04 March 2014

I'd love to be walking here again...

When the first day of March shows on our calendar, it is considered by most, to be our first day of Autumn.  It's how we learnt it at school at least. The Autumn solstice though, is not until March 21st.

Living on the mid east coast of Australia, there is little heralding of colourful falling leaves from masses of deciduous trees.  Unlike my blogging friends on the other side of the world where this is a common-place event to be enjoyed annually.

So, driving into a setting like this at Buchan Caves in Victoria, mid April, way back in 2008, was a truly magic place to be.  The air was crisp; there was an almost eerie stillness, and the beauty of nature was profound.

it was enchanting to hear a gentle rustle, and watch a leaf floating slowly to the ground, like a little parachute...

This post marries up with Ssssh, and listen to nature blog post here on the Spring Creek walk, which was just a little further on down the road.

Are you going back there for another look?

jo-hanna I can't see me getting back there; it's just over 800 kms away - I think it just has to be a nice memory now and I look for colours closer to home

Although I would enjoy waking to blue skies everyday, I would miss the changing seasons that we have here.

Autumn/fall is my very favorite season. March for us will escort in our "Spring" (soon, I hope). Your photos are gorgeous!

Oh these are wonderful. I understand fully how a moment in a certain place can be forever etched into your mind just like it was yesterday. Maybe, you will go there once again. Never say never.

I would love to be walking there too! It's a beautiful place and looks much like our fall colors here. We are still waiting for the snow to melt.

A lovely site. We are at the beginning of our Spring, so crocus and daffodil are popping up....another pretty time of the year.
Hugs,
