...getting close to the gorge now

Roma to Carnarvon Gorge was another 250 kms away ...

taken en route, through the coach window; it's looking like the land of the long white cloud

short video through bus window - three clips.  First shows cattle in what is referred to as 'the long paddock' i.e. eating out along the road verges.  You will see the drover at the end of that first clip, driving past in his ute. .. 'his steel horse' says Joel ....

Now known as All Australian Journeys, our tour leaders Joel (driver), and Julie, have looked after twenty-one passengers travelling from the Central Coast, Newcastle and beyond.  We have travelled almost 1500 kilometres and arrive on the third day, at Carnarvon Gorge, Qld.

Wilderness Safari Style Lodges - a tent (timber panelling lower section), with ensuite under a tin roof, on a timber floor.  Carpeted inside.

not short on comfort; with air-conditioning, gas-heater.  A super king one side...

and a single the other. Tea and coffee making facilities and a refrigerator.   Pull down blinds, while the clear plastic 'windows' could be unzipped to a gauze screen, letting in the fresh air.  This was home for four nights.

a walk to the nearby Nature Trail and Carnarvon Creek

the first of many stepping-stone ventures, Joel and Sarah

Next post will be the Sunset over the Gorge while visiting Bandana Cattle Station

I so envy you that trip. I love the first shot of the clouds hanging over that range with the promise of rain that the countryside looks to need. A lovely contrast to the last couple of shots which look so cool and inviting. And, my, that accommodation looks good to me!

Enjoyed the video - thank you :D)
You'd have been so comfy in your accommodation and how blissful to be able to open those windows too for the night breeze.
Beautiful country indeed.

Loved the video. Made me feel I was there. You can do more of that sort of filming for I'll never make it to the land down under. Great accommodations too. I admire you getting out and doing adventure tours like that rather than sitting at home watching the telly like so many people do. Good on you.

Those are some fancy tents, though I'm not a fan of carpet myself as it tends to hold dampness(not to mention dirt). Speaking of which, yes the vinegar seems to have worked on my tent cot and no the vinegar smell didn't linger. I left it out to dry for over 24 hours afterward as well to make sure no new dampness set in. I'll have to see if that did the trick in the long run.

Good accommodation Carole, big bed.{:))
Appears to be an area with plenty of water around.
Not one of these places we read about that don't get any rain for seven years.
