'environmental area - please keep to pathways'
It was just after 6pm, and while at the Glen Helen Resort, this was the pathway to go view the sunset. A fair walk up to the ridge, and then there was an equally long pathway turning off to the left.
but moments before, I'd been looking at these fabulous Sturts Desert Peas. More of those another post though...just thought I'd sneak that one in. They're the floral emblem for South Australia.
and then there was this! People gathering under the tree for the sunset. There was even a mini-bar set up from the pub where our group would be having dinner afterwards, just down another walkway.
How unique was this I thought! Or is it that I just don't get around much anymore?? No that's not true; I made it all the way here after-all. As we go about our daily lives though, things like this are happening around the globe; quite fascinating.
the sun setting to one side of us will cast the colour changes over these outcrops
way down in the valley I'd sighted this lovely silhouetted tree
..the distance is getting fuzzy now with fading light at 6.30 p.m. It was time to go now for drinks down at the Thirsty Dingo Bar, and dinner from the Desert Oaks Bistro and live entertainment from singer, guitarist, Rod Dowsett.

WOW! I LOVE the shot of the desert peas!
Beautiful post with those great photos.
These are great photos of the sunset, Carole.
Photo 2 and 6 are my favorite.
lovely set of photographs..and how nice that people gather to watch the sunset!
Beautiful getting darker, hum, I agree with what said, a nice drink and dinner.
I am so fascinated with the flowers of Sturts Desert Peas that I didn't pay much attention to the rest of your post. That is what you get for sneaking them in like that.
Carole, this is such a beautiful series of images, and oh my goodness, I just love those Sturts Desert Peas. I have never seen anything like them.
Happy day to you!
Beautiful colours when the sun set!
Love the tree silhouette. You are having a great time good on you. What I remember about Kings Canyon is having a spa next to a huge picture window looking out onto those fabulous colours.
The Sturts Desert Peas are gorgeous. What an amazing area you are visiting. The sunset over the mountains reminds me so much of the Lost Dutchman State Park in Arizona. The silhouetted tree photo is beautiful!
