Flapjack Corner...

I've had this plant from the Kalanchoe family growing for years, and can remember bringing home the original in a small nursery pot.  It endures the summer heat, and the plus is having the lovely deep contrast coloured edges to the leaves.  At certain times of day when the sun shines into them there are such striking hues.

It's a fabulous plant to share, just by slicing off a leaf deep at its base, and that to be re-planted upright.  Eventually it will sprout all around it, new leaves.

There is a new silvery-grey flowering stem popping up at the top of stem to right.  That will need to be cut out to keep the plant looking at its best, and encourage new leaf growth.

Turtle has been with me for the past twenty years and is now being swallowed up as the Flapjacks here encroach on his territory.  Who knows, maybe one day he'll be lifted up by a Flapjack!

I have never heard of a Flapjack plant. It's really striking with it's red-tipped leaves!

That is a lovely plant, the color of the margins brought darker by the intense sunlight. However, i think it gets invasive in a little while, just like the Kalanchoe tabernaemontana!

What a beautiful succulent, Carole! Do you have severe winters?....the succulents I like (small ones) don't do well in winter. (So glad you have a secondary blog, too...beautiful like the first one.)

Hi Carole, just loving your Flapjacks, they're gorgeous and so healthy. Having left a garden behind when we recently moved location, a small pot of Flapjacks was included in my "got to keep" collection of succulents. I was drawn by their beautiful big leaves and colours. I do appreciate your hint of removing the grey stalk to promote leaf growth. Thankyou :D)

Evelyn - not what you'd call severe winters at all. Barely a frost sums it up.
